Personal Safety Education/Outreach

Our personal safety curriculum is an interactive research-based program that reaches approximately 7,500 students every year. It serves to educate and empower them with skills to protect themselves, helps them to recognize and build support systems, and provides them the necessary tools to help them recognize, resist and report abuse. It is presented to students in an age appropriate and non-threatening format that utilizes videos, puppets, storybooks, coloring sheets, and interactive games. The students are also provided material to take home in order to facilitate further discussion with their families.

Invariably a hand will go up and a young child will disclose past or ongoing abuse and get help.

We also provide adult training in the areas of recognizing and responding to child abuse and how to talk to kids about personal safety. These training help teachers, child care workers and parents gain knowledge and skills to help them work to stop child abuse before it occurs or to know how to help in a case of suspected abuse.
