Crisis Intervention/CounselingWe offer counseling for children and families who have experienced abuse with immediate access following the devastating trauma of disclosure of abuse. Children and parents receive the opportunity to stabilize, get through the horrific crisis of abuse, and learn new ways of coping. This program serves several hundred individuals annually. Many of the children are so young that this includes art, play and sand tray therapy. We see young children coming in head down, and a few weeks later with a skip in their step. it is amazing to see the resilience of children even after they've experienced horrific abuse which shouldn't happen to any child Therapy is provided by licensed clinical social workers. Treatment modalities may include trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy (including art and sand tray) and EMDR
